A Conversation With Tony:
What excites you most about the industry’s digital transformation?
Honestly, it’s amazing to see how much has changed over the past decade, and especially in just the last five or six years. The pace of innovation has really picked up with the growth of cloud tools, automation, and smarter ways to share and utilize data. For me, the exciting part is taking all that new tech and turning it into practical solutions. I love working with people across different roles and groups and finding ways to make things easier, faster, and better.
A recent example is from the Buildings & Places Business Group, our implementation of various reality capture solutions has become integral with our workflows. Building out our tech stack and skillset has truly shifted how we approach projects. Another example is our work to develop an AI-enhanced data-capture application that standardized and automated how we collected massive amounts of field data on a recent project.
What is digital delivery, and how does GFT approach it differently?
To me, digital delivery is about using data and technology to deliver better projects, with fewer headaches, less rework, and more clarity for everyone involved. It’s not just about flashy tools; it’s about building standards and workflows that support teams, help clients get more value, and make our business scalable.
At GFT, we’re putting real structure behind that idea. We’ve built a framework that defines roles, maturity models, training, and how we support the company’s teams. What’s different here is that we’re not treating digital delivery as an add-on; we’re actively putting pieces in place so digital delivery becomes part of how we do business, pursue work, and support our people.
How is GFT fostering a digital-first mindset?
It starts with people. We’re creating space for teams to try new approaches, learn tools that can save time, and build confidence in digital delivery. There’s a clear focus on making this part of our day-to-day work, not just something handled by a few experts.
What I’ve really appreciated is how we’re actively connecting digital delivery with other areas like data governance, cybersecurity, automation, and strategic vendor partnerships. It’s all tied together. Whether it’s evaluating new tools, improving processes, automating repetitive tasks, or handing off better seamlessly, we’re helping teams stay focused on what they do best, while building a smarter, more efficient foundation.
“Tony has a rare ability to turn emerging technology into practical, scalable solutions that truly improve how we deliver projects. He has great attention to detail while keeping the big picture, company goals, and the needs of his team and customers at the forefront. Tony is a great asset as we work to infuse digital delivery into our everyday operations and position GFT at the forefront of industry transformation. And Tony is just a great human and fun to work with.”

What is an example of future-ready infrastructure?
I think a good general example of this comes from our continued use and growth with building information modeling (BIM) methodologies and other advanced design and construction technologies. Over the past 15 years, we’ve built deep experience in BIM, reality capture, and digital field data collection, and more recently, we’ve expanded into extended reality (XR) and AI-driven tools for design and analysis.
As clients continue to mature on their digital journey, they are looking for smarter, more connected ways to manage their facilities and model new ways to review and interact with our designs. We guide them through that digitization process, delivering data-rich models that can plug right into their facility management systems. The infrastructure where design data lives and supports operations is where the industry is headed.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’ve been playing paintball for more than 25 years. I was instantly hooked after my dad took me, my brothers, and some friends to play when we were kids. Paintball combines patience, knowledge, strategy, precision, teamwork, and just the right amount of controlled chaos. What keeps me coming back is the focus it demands. When the buzzer goes off, nothing else matters; it requires 100% of your focus. You enter a flow state as you read the field, work with your teammates, stay agile, and make split-second decisions.
What’s your favorite way to unwind?
I have two go-to ways to unwind, depending on the season. The first is walking our dogs, Max and June. Sounds basic, but it’s a great way to stay active, and more than that, it gives me a mental reset. Getting outside, unplugging, and being present really helps clear my head and decompress.
The second is gardening. I’ve been gardening for about 15 years, and there’s something satisfying about getting your hands in the dirt. Whether it’s pruning, planting, or picking vegetables, it’s a hands-on break that helps me slow down and recharge. Plus, growing some of our own food is a great bonus.
