Aimee Corn Elected to the USSD Board of Directors
Senior Project Structural Engineer Aimee Corn, PE, has been elected to the United States Society on Dams (USSD) board of directors.
A long-standing and highly engaged member of USSD, Corn brings a strong track record of leadership, collaboration, and service to the organization. USSD is dedicated to advancing the environmentally sustainable planning, design, construction, and operation of dams and levees while fostering a strong community of practice across the industry.
Corn’s election reflects her deep commitment to USSD’s mission and her sustained contributions to the organization. She has played a pivotal role in strengthening engagement across all career stages, particularly through her leadership of the Emerging Professionals Committee, where she helped expand mentorship opportunities and broaden participation across the industry. Corn also served as chair of the 2024 USSD Annual Conference, where she infused the event with creativity and a renewed sense of community.
“Aimee’s impact on USSD and, by extension, our industry is truly exceptional,” said Dina Hunt, PE, GFT vice president and USSD’s immediate past president. “She brings unmatched energy and commitment, always striving to uplift others and improve how we serve our members. Whether leading at USSD or on her project work here at GFT, Aimee consistently collaborates to find the best solutions and demonstrates strong, steady leadership.”
“I’m honored to serve on the USSD board of directors and support an organization that plays such an important role in advancing our industry,” Corn said. “I look forward to working with fellow board members to continue strengthening our community and supporting the next generation of professionals.”
At GFT, Corn specializes in analyzing existing concrete dams, reinforced-concrete hydraulic structures, and risk assessments. A licensed professional engineer in multiple states and a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Independent Consultant, she has expertise in concrete gravity, arch, and slab-and-buttress dams. She previously received the American Society of Civil Engineers Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement and was named a “Structural Influencer” by STRUCTURE Magazine, recognition that reflects her ability to turn innovative ideas into action.
Her election underscores GFT’s continued leadership in the dam and levee industry and the firm’s commitment to promoting safe and resilient infrastructure.
