Bill Foos Elected Vice President of the United States Society on Dams
Vice President and Security & Safety Senior Director Bill Foos, CPP, PSP, has been elected vice president of the United States Society on Dams (USSD). A long-standing and dedicated member of USSD, Foos brings four decades of industry leadership to this nationally renowned organization focused on advancing the safe, resilient, and sustainable use of tailing and water dams and levee systems.
Known for his professional integrity, strategic vision, and deep commitment to the dam safety and security community, Foos steps into this new leadership role after previously serving as USSD treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee. With this transition, he will conclude his tenure in those previous capacities to focus on broader strategic initiatives in support of USSD’s mission.

“I am honored to serve as vice president of USSD, an organization that plays a critical role in shaping the future of our nation’s dams and levee infrastructure,” Foos said. “I look forward to working alongside the board of directors to support our members, champion innovation, and strengthen our collective impact.”
Foos has a longstanding history of service within USSD, including the Dam Safety Committee, the Public Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Committee, and as a U.S. delegate representative to the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Committee on Public Safety and Emergency Management Around Dams. He remains a passionate advocate for enhancing the resiliency, safety, and performance of dams and levee systems nationwide.
A recognized industry thought leader, Foos frequently presents at national and international conferences, including the USSD Annual Conference and the ICOLD Annual Conference, with a focus on dam resiliency, emergency management, and public security and safety.
In his role at GFT, Foos applies more than 35 years of experience to deliver best-in-class physical security, emergency management, public safety, security risk management, and cybersecurity solutions to critical infrastructure owners across the country. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the University of Nebraska.
