GFT Expands Canadian Infrastructure Leadership to Support Major Transportation Programs
As infrastructure investment accelerates across Canada, GFT is strengthening its ability to support complex transportation programs and capital planning with the addition of Douglas Raby, PEng, as strategic business development leader and project director based in Ottawa.
In his role, Raby will work within the senior leadership team to support strategy development, project delivery, recruitment, succession management, and mentoring. He will focus on supporting major transportation infrastructure assignments across Canada, working with clients to shape programs from early-stage strategy through implementation. His presence in Ottawa also expands GFT’s regional depth, particularly its Ministry of Transportation Ontario experience, supporting closer collaboration with clients across Eastern Ontario.
Raby brings more than 30 years of experience working directly with federal, provincial, and municipal agencies. He is active in all phases of project delivery, including sales and pursuits; business case development; functional, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design; and implementation and construction. Most recently, his work has included supporting due diligence and capital planning reviews for critical transportation corridors such as the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway, helping agencies evaluate future investment strategies, system performance, and risks.
Raby’s experience aligns with the priorities of Canadian transportation agencies as they advance large-scale programs, address aging infrastructure, and plan for long-term system performance. His background across planning, design, and implementation positions GFT to provide more integrated support to clients navigating complex, multidisciplinary projects, and his experience in constructability, risk management, and delivery of complex projects will reinforce GFT’s ability to help clients advance high-priority initiatives.
“Doug’s experience working within and alongside Canadian transportation agencies brings valuable insight into how major programs are developed and delivered,” said Kosta Catsiapis, PEng, vice president and transportation regional leader for Canada. “His ability to connect strategy, technical delivery, and client priorities will help us continue to support our clients’ most important infrastructure investments.”
