Federal Funding Will Advance 12 Projects To Improve Safety, Reduce Congestion, and Eliminate At-Grade Rail Conflicts Across Texas

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) secured more than $755 million in Federal Railroad Administration funding to advance 12 rail grade separation projects across Texas. These awards are the largest total received by any state or local recipient in this funding cycle and will help communities eliminate at-grade rail crossings, improve safety, reduce congestion, and keep people and goods moving more efficiently.

Working closely with TxDOT’s Government Affairs and Rail divisions, GFT supported efforts to position Texas for federal funding success through grant strategy, application development, and advocacy support. TxDOT also leveraged $77.6 million from the state’s Off-System Rail Grade Separation State Fund Program to help local governments meet matching requirements and maximize participation in the federal grant program.

The awarded projects represent more than $953 million in combined local, state, and federal investment and will deliver long-term transportation improvements for communities across Texas. GFT is proud to support TxDOT’s mission to advance critical infrastructure investments that improve safety, mobility, and economic opportunity for Texans.
