Grant-Writing Team Secures Substantial Federal Funding for Hydroelectric Clients
$47 Million Awarded Under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Section 247: Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity Incentives Program
We are proud to announce the successful securing of $47 million in federal government funding for our clients through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Section 247: Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity Incentives Program. These federal grants provide funding opportunities to help our hydropower facility owners complete capital improvements and prepare their infrastructure for future energy demands in a cost-effective manner. On behalf of four clients, we:
- Obtained $47 million of the $430 million awarded in this cycle.
- Helped fund 29 hydropower projects.
- Captured 11% of all available federal grant monies.
- Completed 10% of all successful applications.
- Delivered 74% of all successful applications in California.
“We’re thrilled to have secured federal funding for our clients, allowing them to move forward with critical upgrades to their hydroelectric facilities,” said Randy Bowersox, PE, vice president and hydropower market executive. “This achievement highlights our team’s exceptional ability to guide owners through the grant application process, ultimately empowering them to enhance the performance and sustainability of their operations. As the U.S. moves toward more robust energy policy goals, we remain a trusted advisor to our clients, ensuring they are well-positioned to take advantage of these project funding opportunities.”
Hydroelectricity is a vital part of the renewable energy mix, providing a reliable, carbon-free source of power that plays a critical role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to a more sustainable energy future. Maintaining and enhancing existing hydroelectric power infrastructure is essential for energy security and environmental sustainability, which is why the DOE committed a total of $553 billion in funding under its program. This funding aims to ensure that the nation’s hydroelectric assets continue to contribute to the clean energy transition while adapting to modern standards of efficiency and resilience.

Our team understands the hydroelectric market’s unique challenges and opportunities. Our grant writing services are tailored to address clients’ needs, helping them navigate the complexities of project funding programs like Section 247. Working closely with our clients, we develop customized and comprehensive applications that meet stringent technical, financial, and regulatory criteria.
As the demand for clean energy continues to grow, we remain dedicated to providing strategic advisory, regulatory compliance, and hydropower engineering services to support the renewable energy space. Combined with our technical expertise in hydroelectric projects, our grant writing services strengthen our role as a trusted advisor to clients seeking to modernize facilities and capitalize on state, private, and federal funding opportunities.
