In The News: GFT Experts Drive Landmark Research on Transit Project Managers

At GFT, we believe that the best infrastructure solutions start with people. That commitment is on full display in “The People Behind Major Transit Projects: Recruiting, Training, and Retaining Project Managers,” the Eno Center for Transportation’s June 2025 report that sets a new benchmark for how agencies staff and support public transit critical infrastructure. The study draws on dozens of interviews to spotlight the skills, mentorship, and culture that keep megaprojects on track.

Bob Lund, PE, principal program manager, contributed his decades of operational and capital program experience, including lessons from steering more than $1 billion in annual work at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). His reflections on building employee pipelines, fostering field-to-office rotations, and balancing consultant and in-house teams demonstrate some of the challenges our public sector clients face daily.

Zoe Robertson, senior project manager, added equally candid insight. After managing the Strategic Initiatives Department for SEPTA, she joined GFT in 2022. She shared firsthand perspectives on recruiting next-generation talent and creating meaningful training pathways.

Lund and Robertson’s combined expertise helped shape Eno’s recommendations on cultivating project management excellence, from rotational programs to transparent “lessons learned” reporting. Their contributions to this landmark research reinforce GFT’s position as the most people-centric firm in the AEC industry, where human insight fuels technical excellence and, ultimately, better rider experiences.
