In The News: Lake Williams Dam Rehabilitation Named a 2025 Top Project by Central Penn Business Journal
The York Water Company’s Lake Williams Dam Rehabilitation has been honored as a 2025 Top Project by the Central Penn Business Journal. Selected as part of the annual Real Estate & Development Summit, this recognition celebrates the most impactful construction and infrastructure efforts across Central Pennsylvania over the past year.
Originally built in 1912, Lake Williams Dam underwent a bold transformation to meet modern safety, environmental, and community standards. Designed by GFT, the rehabilitation preserved historic integrity while introducing innovative upgrades, including a new roller-compacted concrete labyrinth spillway, expanded reservoir capacity, and improved public amenities. The result is a resilient water infrastructure solution that benefits over 220,000 residents and exemplifies the power of ingenuity that sustains communities.
In 2024, the project was named the National Rehabilitation Project of the Year by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) and received an Award of Merit from ENR Mid-Atlantic in its Regional Best Projects competition.
