Lake Williams Dam Rehabilitation Receives Award of Merit in ENR Mid-Atlantic Regional Best Projects Competition

The Lake Williams Dam Rehabilitation project was honored with an Award of Merit from ENR Mid-Atlantic in its Regional Best Projects competition. This competition celebrates projects that excel in innovation, quality, design, and construction.

Owned by The York Water Company, designed by GFT, and built by Kinsley Construction, the Lake Williams Dam Rehabilitation achieved notable recognition for its performance in key areas, including:

  • Overcoming complex challenges through effective teamwork.
  • Upholding rigorous safety standards.
  • Driving innovation with unique techniques, design elements, and technology.
  • Enhancing community and environmental stewardship.
  • Demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship.

The Award of Merit is the second industry recognition the project recently received. The Association of State Dam Safety Officials also named it the 2024 National Rehabilitation Project of the Year.

Located in York, Pennsylvania, Lake Williams Dam has served as a vital infrastructure asset for over a century. The newly rehabilitated facility exemplifies modern dam safety standards, secures a critical water supply for the region, supports local ecosystems, and preserves the original dam’s historical significance.
