WHCRWA Segment B3 Earns 2026 Water Project of the Year Award
A Premier Industry Honor
The West Harris County Regional Water Authority (WHCRWA) has received the 2026 Water Project of the Year Award for Segment B3 at the Underground Infrastructure Conference’s MVP + UI Honors. The Houston, Texas-based project stood out among a competitive field of leading water infrastructure projects. The awards program recognizes innovation, leadership, and excellence across underground infrastructure.
Advancing Long-Term Water Reliability
Segment B3 plays a critical role in WHCRWA’s Surface Water Supply Project, reflecting the scale and complexity required to deliver a long-term, reliable water supply for the region. Featuring a 4.4-mile, 132-inch tunnel carrying a 96-inch waterline, the project spans seven shaft sites and multiple major crossings. The large-diameter pipeline showcases ingenuity in navigating complex urban infrastructure. While much of this work takes place out of sight, its impact reaches everywhere, supporting essential systems people rely on every day.
In addition to this national honor, the project was recognized by the Construction Management Association of America Houston Chapter as Project of the Year for Water/Wastewater. This recognition further highlights the team’s strength and the significance of the achievement, a fitting celebration of WHCRWA’s 25th anniversary this year.
