Communities across Long Island are being transformed as part of the $150 million Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Enhanced Station Initiative (ESI). The program involves upgrading rail stations to enrich the customer experience and support the economic development of Long Island and the region. The village of Syosset, on the LIRR’s Port Jefferson Branch, has seen its station completely rebuilt as part of the ESI program. Improvements at the Syosset Station were designed to reflect the history and character of the community while significantly enhancing the station environment for 6,000 travelers each weekday.

GFT was selected as the designer of record to rebuild the Syosset Station and modernize four other LIRR facilities. In this role, our firm led station improvement design and rebranding as well as construction oversight services, delivering the project on time and on budget under an aggressive schedule.
