Los Angeles World Airports Consolidated Rental Car Facility Planning
Client: Los Angeles World Airports
Our Role: Programming & Concept Designer

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the busiest airports in the world, and the need for efficient transportation infrastructure is critical for supporting both travelers and airport operations. A key component of LAX’s master plan, the Consolidated Rental Car (ConRAC) facility had to integrate with other ongoing developments, including the Intermodal Transportation Facility and Automated People Mover (APM). Our team was tasked with ensuring that the ConRAC facility would align with these projects while addressing necessary improvements in roadway and vehicular circulation and providing a seamless experience for passengers using rental car services. Additionally, the facility had to accommodate future growth and redevelopment in the surrounding areas.
Our firm conducted an in-depth study to provide comprehensive planning and programming services for the ConRAC facility, which is part of the broader LAX Specific Plan Amendment Study (SPAS). We worked closely with LAX officials to identify the optimal location for the facility and proposed roadway and circulation improvements to enhance traffic flow and accessibility. Our team also evaluated acreage requirements and provided options for phased construction to ensure minimal disruption to airport operations.
Furthermore, we offered recommendations for the redevelopment of the adjacent Manchester Square property, ensuring that the facility would fit within the broader scope of LAX’s long-term vision. By coordinating with other planning studies and future projects, our team ensured that the ConRAC facility would be an integral part of LAX’s transformation into a more efficient, modern transportation hub.
