Marshall University – New Flight School at Yeager Airport
Client: Central WV Regional Airport Authority
Our Role: Master Planning, Site Analysis, Conceptual Design, and Facility Development

Marshall University envisioned a cutting-edge School of Aviation to equip the next generation of pilots and aviation maintenance professionals. The university aimed to establish two distinct programs: an Aviation Maintenance Technology program at Tri-State Airport in Huntington, WV, and a Flight School at Yeager Airport in Charleston, WV. The challenge was creating a state-of-the-art facility that not only provided premier aviation education but also supported student life with dedicated housing at the South Charleston campus.
The Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority sought a comprehensive plan to analyze potential sites, develop conceptual designs, and execute a strategic vision for a new hangar and classroom building that would house the Bill Noe Flight School. The project required an approach that balanced operational functionality, student experience, and long-term sustainability.
Our team delivered a Master Plan that aligned with Marshall University’s long-term aspirations for aviation education. This involved site analyses, space planning, and conceptual studies to determine the most effective use of Yeager Airport’s facilities.
By focusing on both flight training and aircraft maintenance, the plan ensured that Marshall University’s aviation program would be a leader in comprehensive, hands-on education, preparing students for careers in the evolving aerospace industry.
