Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Rental Car Care Facility
Client: Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport
Our Role: Programming, Planning, Functional Design, Full Construction Documentation, Construction Administration

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport needed to upgrade its rental car operations to meet current demand and plan for long-term growth. The existing facility lacked the capacity and infrastructure to support efficient operations as the airport’s passenger base continued to expand. The car rental building design project also needed to align with the airport’s broader ground transportation infrastructure strategy and reduce traffic impacts around the terminal.
GFT led the program verification and complete design of the expanded rental car care facility, confirming scope and scale-based construction data and projected passenger growth. The design emphasized cost-effectiveness, operational efficiency, and secure functionality to meet both immediate and future needs. The team applied best practices in car rental design, such as cost-effective planning and secure operations, prioritizing flexible layouts, streamlined vehicle flow, and safety features to support long-term performance.
